Gold jewellery and coins retrieved from a shipwreck in the Dominican Republic's jurisdictional waters are said to be protected under local maritime law.
RTT reports that some treasure found at sea is returned to the nation that the wrecked ship belonged to - giving the example of a hoard recently handed back to Spain by a US district judge.
